SHORT-FORM VIDEO • POLICY TRANSLATION • HEALTH CONTENT
I turn public health policy into content people actually watch.
I’m Dr. Rahmatu Kassimu, public health PhD, educator, and the creator behind Dr. K.’s Health Minute, where I deliver “just the real… in 60 seconds.” I script, film, and edit platform-native video that makes dense policy make sense, without dumbing it down.

My own content lab: an ongoing series of Health Minutes across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, where I test hooks, refine formats, and prove that evidence-based health content can be genuinely watchable. Also produced and hosted three seasons of the podcast Black Mom Uncensored for Dr. Shalon's Maternal Action Project.

Graphics & Carousels
Static graphics and multi-panel carousels designed in Canva: data-heavy content made scannable.

What I Bring to a Campaign Team
I pitch, script, film, narrate, and edit: one person, full pipeline. Built for a 2–3 videos/week cadence because that's already how I work.
Script to Screen
PhD-level public health training means I read the actual bill, the actual rule, the actual data, and then make it land usually in 60 seconds for a general audience.
Policy Translation
Hooks, pacing, trends, captions, comment-section strategy. Content built for TikTok first, then repurposed intelligently, not cross-posted lazily.
Platform-Native Instincts
Trained in program evaluation: I track performance, read the data, and iterate on what the numbers say, not what the algorithm gossip says.
Metrics-Minded
Canva, CapCut, and Adobe Express: static graphics, carousels, and edited videos delivered ready to publish.
Design Tools
Years of nonprofit and advocacy work: 501(c)(3) guidelines, grant-funded deliverables, and equity-centered messaging are home turf, not a learning curve.
Mission-Fluent
05 — About
The Person Behind the Camera
I’m Dr. Rahmatu Kassimu, Dr. K., if you’ve met me on your For You page. I hold a PhD in Health Studies, an MPH, and an M.Ed., and I teach public health at East Texas A&M. But the work you see here comes from a simple belief: the science only matters if people can use it.
Since 2021, I’ve been building Dr. K.’s Health Minute, creating short-form health and policy content across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, and partnering with organizations like the Lung Cancer Foundation of America and Watering Hole Media to turn their missions into content that moves.
I’m the co-editor of Navigating Black Maternal Mental Health and Well-Being (IGI Global, 2026), a keynote speaker, and, most relevant here, someone who genuinely enjoys reading a policy tracker and figuring out how to make it a relevant TikTok that lands with the people that need to hear it.
Be Well, My Friends!
